Animals Australia - has been joined by Sydney-based animal protection organisation Voiceless, The Berg Family Foundation and Hunter Hall International Ltd in forming the Prisons to Paddocks alliance. The alliance has funded the largest ever national public awareness campaign to highlight the plight of factory-farmed pigs in Australia. Currently most Australians, including consumers and those actively involved in financially supporting this industry such as retailers, are unaware of the conditions in which these animals are bred and raised in factory farms.
The advertisements will feature in women’s magazines, national newspapers and on buses and billboards in all major cities. Thousands of free postcards by Avant will also be available nationwide and a viral online component is planned. The campaign is designed to convey the truth to the Australian public about factory farming and asks them to change their buying habits to give pigs a better life.
A supportive campaign component based on the advertisements ' A recipe for change' will be provided to community members who wish to assist in creating further awareness.
