Animals Australia wishes to thank all those who have made the Pro Pig Pledge and by doing so have made the decision to no longer support pig cruelty in Australia. We have been heartened by the wonderful feedback that has flooded in over the last couple of months and hope that the following comments from compassionate Australians will help to inspire others, as it does us! |
|
| I saw your billbaord at Richmond station today, and I feel really ashamed that when we shop, we're paying the people for treating pigs so badly. No animal deserves to be put through anything like that, and I wish all forms of cruelty to animals would stop. - Maria, VIC | |
| I am a 10 year old boy. I have always loved animals and when I saw one of your signs I was disgusted that anthing like this was allowed to happen. I have made the pro pig pledge before I saw it on the site (I vowed never to eat pig again) and when I saw a bumper sticker of it I remembered to look at the website. I'm glad that someone else aside from me cares. - Nishanth, VIC | |
| I've been noticing your ads on Sydney buses. The public needs to be confronted with the horrors that these poor pigs endure daily. Congratulations on the exposure you've gained so far - I will continue to spread the word. I'm sickened by Australia's ignorance. - Tori, NSW | |
| I've been vegetarian for almost 2 years. It has surprised me how easy it is. Not one actual meat craving in that time. Pigs are as smart or smarter than dogs. If you had a dog in Australia and treated it like these pigs are treated, you would be fined thousands of dollars. But if it isn't just a family pet that is suffering, but thousands of intelligent animals, then it is acceptable? Why do Australian animal cruelty laws allow this sort of behaviour and farming practices to continue? Someone needs to break the chain. - Maggie, NT | |
| I am absolutely shocked at such animal cruelty towards innocent creatures. Farming practices should be improved - let us Australians set an example to the rest of the world. - Shomo, NSW | |
| I pledge not to eat pigs at all! - Carly, VIC | |
| I have been a pig lover for as long as I can remember. I saw your SaveBabe.com ad in the city yesterday and was mortified, I am currently pregnant and if I had to go through that even for a 16 week pregnancy I don't know what I would do. You have my complete support on this issue. Actually being able to see the pain and depression in their eyes, nearly made me cry. I hope this problem is resolved and never happens to pigs or any other animal EVER again. - Loretta, QLD | |
| I am 11 years old and cannot believe that we do these things to our animals. When I am grown up I hope we are nicer to our animals. - Holly, VIC | |
| I saw the program about sow confinement pens on ABC's Landline program. I was appauled and upset. Thank you for your campaign efforts. - Annie, VIC | |
| I would like to commend you on your work so far. Sunday 5th November I seen your ad for "Mutilated Pork" in the SA Sunday Mail. I wasnt a very big meat eater before, but now Ivwe made the decision to not eat any meat products AT ALL! You have changed my life for the better. Keep at it, if you can affect me so strongly with just one ad, think of how many more people can be changed for the better with a constant campaign! Thankyou! - Kelly, SA | |
| I find it extremely difficult to view the inhumane images of these magnificant creatures. How can anyone condone or accept this cruel behaviour once they have been informed. My tears are nothing compared to those that the pigs shed. - Kim, VIC | |
| I can't believe animals are allowed to be treated this way. It is so cruel and it makes me sad. Animals have just as many rights as we do. I'd love to put those farmers in a cold little stall for 6 weeks.- Louise, SA | |
| I think the way many animals are treated in battery farming is appalling and does not reflect the the values of an enlightened and humane society. - Tony, SA | |
Keep up the good work, thank you for making change in the world and I shall support the cause actively to honor the work you are choosing to do. - Jennifer, NSW |
|

I had no idea that this cruelty existed. Since seeing the advertisements on the tram, I am now more aware of the situation. Thankyou for alerting the public. Well done! - Susannah, VIC |
|
I couldn't believe a country like Australia would be part of something so cruel and indecent.. i have always prided myself believing we were a country who helped the underprivileged. - Paula, QLD |
|
| I am so glad that something is finally being done! - Jacqui, NSW | |
| You all are doing a wonderful job at helping to end this barbaric form of 'farming'. Keep up the great work! - Rebecca, QLD | |
| Australian Pork Ltd needs to be told that they can not continue these ancient practices of cruelty in 2006 - Robert, VIC | |
I cannot believe how ignorant i was of this issue! it took a rather disturbing billboard at my local train station to bring my attention to this horrific situation. thanks for opening my eyes. - Jill, QLD |
|
The very best of luck with this wonderful initiative. I'm sure you are right - public awareness is the key. Well done again.- Sandra, TAS |
|
| Lets stop the lies, and get those pigs out in the fresh air and running free. I have not eaten pork for a very long time. - Margaret, NT | |
Factory Farming leaves no room for compassion for its captives. End these barbaric practices now and allow pigs their inherit right to live free of suffering! - Helena, VIC |
|
| Pigs are sentient beings. Enough said. - Naomi, TAS | |
| I like bacon, but I love pigs - so no more bacon for me. - Deborah, NSW | |
I am a vegetarian but made a decision this year to not let any pork products enter my house. This affects guests and family members and is my way of protesting about the treatment of pigs. - Tracy, VIC |
|
Animals are not meant to be caged in this manner. All animals are meant to be free and wandering fields and paddocks enjoying a healthy life, just like all humans being expect and demand. The act of farming our pigs in the manner that is currently permitted by law and practiced by pig farmers is an absolute disgrace and the human beings that take any part, small or large, in this practice should be subjected to the same conditions for the same period of time that our beautiful pigs are forced to endure it. SHAME SHAME SHAME. - Jenny, NSW |
|
Even though I like bacon I understand that we need to treat our pigs with dignity and without cruelty. I support your mission 100% - Fernando, VIC |
|
| Commendations to all who are working to end the suffering of intensively farmed animals. - Janenne, QLD | |
| The pigs need freedom more than I need pork! Thanks Animals Australia! - Graham, QLD | |
When will people start thinking about what they are putting in their mouths, and feeding to their children, and how it got on their plate in the first place? - Tanya, SA |
|
It is beyond time when we should be growing our food without cruelty. Well done on your Pro-Pig Pledge for bringing us closer. - Kate, NSW |
|
I think the cruelty to animals including pigs is appaling. I watched a very disturbing doco on Channel 31 on mass pig farming which opened my eyes to the terrible conditions and cruelties that these factory farmed animals go through. - Alison, VIC |
|
| I applaud what you are doing! May the pigs run free - long live the pigs!! - Louise, NSW | |
| I had never considered becoming a vegetarian but I now consider myself as one. - Amelia, TAS | |
| What a fantastic idea! This is something I feel happy sending to all sorts of people! - Yvette, TAS | |
If everyone just stops eating pork then the intensive farming will stop due to lack of profit. I do not eat pork and never will for this reason. Pigs are intelligent and wonderful animals that have been treated with cruelty for profit. Please help stop this cruelty by refusing pork. - Kim, QLD |
|
I am sure that most people have no idea of the horrors of factory farming. Thank you Animals Australia for bringing the facts out into the open. - Barbara, WA |
|
This is fantastic. I am a meat eater but it is possible with a little more effort as a consumer to find free range products. I think gradually the word is spreading so keep up the good work guys/gals. I'm afraid I have trouble looking at this cruelty in picture and word form but I want to spread the word as I,m sure if people are confronted by these images they will try to make a difference!!! - Ruth, VIC |
|
I am completely disgusted about the treatment of pigs. Its bad enough that people eat them at all, but I was completely unaware of factory farming in Australia. - Kerrie, NSW |
|
| "Do unto others ..." was never meant to apply only to humans. - Robyn, VIC | |
| To quote from the movie "A Few Good Men", the Jack Nicholson character says, "you can't handle the truth". Therein lies the problem as people just don't want to know the process involved in getting that leg of lamb on the table. Well, just like climate change, it's time for consumers to face the truth. - Jacqui, VIC | |
