It was never about the pigs...

Tragically, this government 'welfare' review was never about pig welfare; it was about the welfare of industry operators. Every caring Australian should be outraged at this pretence, and at recommendations that condemn pigs to another decade of cruelty.

The revised Code continues to allow industry operators to severely confine sows in individual, tiny 'sow stalls' for their entire 16 week pregnancies for a further decade as well as other cruel practices which, if inflicted on a dog or cat, would be cruelty offences...

More than ever these intelligent, sensitive animals are depending on us.
